Sencha is a Japanese green tea from the region of Kyoto. Secha green tea leaves are delicate and a true jade color. The tea itself has a precise and subtle taste that is bittersweet.

Sencha green tea is anti-viral, anti-flammatory, and contains high levels of antioxidants. In fact, the levels of antioxidants in a green tea, like sencha, are a 100 times higher than vitamin C and 25 times higher than vitamin E (source).


According to a study, when applied to the skin, green tea helped with moisturizing the deeper layers of the skin and aided in skin renewal. This “moisturizing” effect improved skin elasticity and the overall function of the skin barrier (source).

Also the Journal of  Drugs in Dermatology states that Sencha green tea provides protection from UVB rays and is a natural photo-protectant:
“Green tea extracts contain four catechin derivatives, predominantly epicatechin, epigallocatechin, epicatechin gallate, and epicatechin 3-gallate, which have been studied for their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties.4 The green tea polyphenols included in cosmetic formulations show good skin penetration and retention. These properties may favor skin performance5 in terms of inhibition of the acute effects caused by exposure to UVB radiation and reduction of inflammation, consequently avoiding the erythema and immunosuppression induced by solar radiation.6 Components of the green tea extract neutralize reactive oxygen species, thereby preventing lipid peroxidation and photoaging. 6” (source).

Sencha green tea oil is created by a process that infuses sencha green tea leaves into olive oil. Sencha green tea oil is then created and carries the same beneficial properties of sencha green tea, only it is in “oil” form.
